We had our first snow fall of the year here in Michigan, I seriously went from not thinking about Christmas at all to totally ready to go Christmas shopping and get it all done in 2 hot seconds. Its amazing what a little bit of snow does for your holiday cheer.
First I would like a huge pat on the back, perhaps a cookie, or a trophy … Matt was gone hunting for about 10 days. TEN. So I’ve been home solo with the babes that whole time. 22 months + 4-1/2 month old … and a dog. I was super out numbered. How you single mom’s do it, especially with two babies, not sure. I about died on several occasions. Mainly bedtime. Mama needs a cocktail, that’s what she needs.
He actually did come home for a day and a half in the middle though, so atleast I had that. So lets start the weekend out at Thursday this week, because when you’re a stay at home mom, all the days tend to blend together. Clare had her 4 month check up that evening, and we’re so thankful we have a very healthy little girl. She is a petite little thing which is strange for us when Levi was such a tank. Everyone just compliments her on her crazy beautiful hair & how smiley she is. We sure do love having her in our family. [I’ll be blogging her four month update in the next day or so as well].
Friday was one of those days where I tried to get out of the house all day and ended up leaving after nap time at the crack of 5pm. Once Levi was awake from his nap, we ran some errands & then headed to thee cutest unicorn themed first birthday party for my cousin’s little Nella Ruth. My family is extremely close on my mom’s side so Randi (aka Miranda) is one of my best friends. So her children actually feel more like my nieces.
It was so nice to get Levi out of the house! We were going crazy being cooped up at home, and there is only so many target trips your wallet can take. Sorry Matt, see what happens when you leave me for too long?! Randi even made these little unicorn’s on sticks for party favors! Such a hit & I’m still trying to figure out how the heck she made them. Oh and the cookies were just as delicious as they were adorable. Pretty sure Levi’s dinner that night consistent of cookies, cupcakes, and chips. Good hearty dinner right? In between the bites of cookies, Levi attempted to spin a basketball on his finger & followed our friend Trevor around starring at him who was dressed a lot like Matt with a camo hat & a beard. That’s when I realized he needed his dad home STAT. We were laughing so hard.
Saturday morning we woke up to winter wonderland. I walked into Levi’s room and opened his blinds, his face just lit up! “Ohhhh snoowwww!!!” I love it. I actually got to work for a few hours while my mother in law babysat during the day. Headed home and went on another target trip + bed time solo. Again. We were almost home and Levi saw some Christmas lights so I whipped a ‘youie’ and drove down the road to this business that had awesome christmas lights up. I just planned to do a drive by but Clare was asleep so I let him out because he wanted to see them up close and personal. Free entertainment. He loved tracking through the snow in his boots too. Bathtime for everyone and once both kids were finally sleeping, I put laundry away which is never endinggggg. Super super exciting Satruday night. Oh how the things change. [which I actually love quiet low key nights to be honest].
Okay seriously, this face haha. She is very focused on catching those darn water droplets.
Sunday morning I had a lovely breakfast date, we spent the morning at church + with family that afternoon. Met Matthew at my parents [so Levi could see his buck] and welcomed him home with a happy dance and I didn’t change ONE diaper the rest of the day.
Happy Monday! Ready to accomplish as much editing as I can before the holiday! Cheers to being productive & getting lots done! XO, Leah
