tina + derek :: wedding

We met for the first time downtown Holland for a drink, perfect first date. I had never met Tina, but she had found me through a past bride whom she is neighbors with and so thankful Stacey referred me. It was a perfect first date and we hit it off right away. A few glasses of wine later, I think we talked more about life and fun memories than wedding planning. I was so bummed I didn’t get to shoot an engagement session with these two, something I think is so important. So when their wedding day came, I had never met Derek. Of course I was a little curious of how it would go not ever meeting each other until I’m there on one of the most important days of his life, but within minutes … we hit it off and I knew it was going to be an amazing day.

This couple is REAL. They tell it how it is and I love that about them. Their day started off at their home in Grand Rapids and then moved to their cathedral downtown. Due to it being a catholic ceremony, the time had to be earlier in the day so Derek’s first look was when his beautiful bride was walking down the aisle. I absolutely loved capturing the moment when they held hands with the door between them prior to the ceremony. Something I had seen done before and always wanted to document it myself. Such a beautiful moment.

The day flew by, as they all do, but these two are officially married and along with their friends and family, I couldn’t be happier for them. Soooo great being up close and center on their big day and wishing them all the happiness in the world!

Lets just say … the competition got pretty intense.

I was pre-warned by Tina herself that she is a HUGE Michael Jackson fan. So naturally, Michael was played every other song. Second time working with this DJ and loved his presence on the dance floor with the white gloove.

I just had to include one of my favoritest-est couples EVER. I was lucky enough to photograph Stacy and Aaron’s wedding in 2010! Holy smokes … that seems like forever ago but then again, yesterday. Aren’t they so stink’n cute its not even funny? I love them. And LOVED catching up with them during dinner.
