i’m a wedding photographer. no ifs, ands, or buts about it. well … maybe a few ‘buts’. when i quit my full time interior design job in january … i knew this year would be full of some fun portraits and not going to lie, i’ve enjoyed it throughly. i think i’ll always fill my months with a few portrait sessions. when i meet with a family with three kids under the age of 6, boy am i glad i have a nephew and niece. it has taught me patience. and thats exactly what you need when you photograph children.
i can’t say enough about this couple and family though. yes, it was a challenge to photograph and catch all three children smiling … happy, and looking at the camera but we had some fun trying! We first had to go to my friend’s greenhouse, Brower Greenhouse in Hudsonville where he has crates full of small pumpkins and gourds for the fall. I actually shot Ross and Sara’s engagement pictures there because we met there and I was like OMG i love these crates. That was like 2 1/2 years ago. So all of a sudden … it clicks … i need to check out some crates again! Yes Yes … the pumpkins were a bit of a distraction to a child, but to be honest … with a child … everything is. grass, boats, planes, bugs, stones, dirt … you name it. but i love the color and they did great and enjoyed playing on the mound of pumpkins. thanks ross! i ended up going back a week later with a beautiful senior and i’ll be blogging that soon too.
after the crates, we headed to one of my favorite farms where the black cat lives. ohhhh the black cat. it stalks me! don’t get me wrong, i love animals and even cats. but this cat is kinda on my “don’t like” list. sorry. meet darrin, abbey, maiya, nash, and ford. [don’t you love their names?!]
