Inspiration for the blog : Personal

I have to keep telling myself that it is a work in progress.  Branding is harder than I thought it would be. For years I’ve been thinking of how I want to display myself and my business and I have so many ideas.  While working full time and shooting part time, I was so swallowed up by working on pictures, I never got the chance to really brand my business and now that its the real deal, I’ve been plugging away at it.  I knew I wouldn’t be too busy this spring/summer with weddings because last fall I turned down like 30-40 weddings! But I am totally content with it because I have so much business stuff to catch up on and I’m really enjoying it, although it can be frustrating at times. When re-designing my blog I looked to many different things to find my inspiration. One thing that I have a TOTAL weakness for is magazines!!! O M G … magazines. I don’t care if you send me to the grocery store to get one potato, I leave with a magazine … or two. Yes, Matthew yells at me here and there and says they are the dumbest thing to buy but they really aren’t because I find so much inspiration from magazines! Weather its the color palette, posing ideas, or inspiration for a themed shoot all together … they are just so great. Not to mention one of my favorite things to do is lay on the couch and read a good book or magazine of how to get those ripped abs in 10 days! So one day I was looking at a magazine and just LOVED the whole color palette of the shoot! It was Christina Aguilera and I was like … okay, love the background color, her hair, dress … everything!  I actually ended up painting my basement the background color of the page because I loved it so much!  So of course when it came time to pick my blog colors, I right away thought of magazines and went right back to that look.

It might be here to stay, its still a work in progress but so far I love it and really think it shows my personality and style. Like I said, work in progress. Right now my days are filled with editing, working on branding and making contracts and all those paper goods! I got business cards in the mail the other day and love them! Although … I need to re-order them because the font on the back is a little smaller than I would have liked … but they work great for now! Someday soon I hope to hire a graphic designer but as for now, I think my homemade branding will do 🙂 Let me know what you think! Here are some of the magazines that inspired me!

I MISS BEING YOUR UNPAID UNOFFICIAL ASSISTANT! I LOVE everything about this post! Your business cards are awesome! Zoey is a DOLL and I miss sitting in your office staring at my favorite lamp. P.s. I had to swat your hand a few times when you reach for the magazines in the checkout lane. You have WAY TOO MANY ;)!

okay so, funny story. You probably know this already, but that was my Grandpa's house. It looks SOOOOOOO much better with all the transformations you did. I couldn't believe it the last time I was over. I NEVER EVER thought it could look that good! However, I can't believe you didn't keep the orange shag! It was so... vintage! Totally kidding. I'd cry too. But seriously, I'm pretty sure you can make anything beautiful. :) It's goregous.
