ryan + mary :: engagement

i’ve always set goals for myself and pushed myself to achieve them. i’m a dreamer, hence the fact that i have ‘dream’ tattooed on my wrist. i just love looking at what COULD happen or MIGHT happen and trying my very hardest to achieve it. i love the challenge. although, i do realize that goals are just a great motivation for us, but that really its just a matter of getting excited about what we’re doing. its just basically me doing the best i can at organizing my thoughts, wishes, and dreams. at the beginning of the year when i starting doing photography full time i set a few goals for myself. i think its important to keep some to myself but i had so many ideas for this business and couldn’t wait to see where i could take it, with God’s help. i set a number of weddings that i thought would be a good amount for me and my first year, (which i’ve almost hit my goal and am booked for 2011 … almost) i just don’t want to overwhelm myself like past years. but again, that’s a whole other post. another dream or goal i had was to shoot a wedding out of state. i love traveling. in august i had the honor of traveling up to williamsburg, mi which was so exciting to shoot somewhere even a few hours away and see things i had yet to see … but that idea of shooting out of the state still lingered in the back of my mind. and then i got an email.

a city right outside of chicago. chicago, illinois. i can’t tell you how excited i am. trust me, i read other photographer’s blogs and how they are traveling to different countries to shoot weddings or just workshops, but this … it means so much to me. that someone wants to pay me to document their wedding day … and travel out of state. if anyone is hard on themselves its me … but right here and now, i’m doing it … i’m tooting my horn. so then i meet the couple for our engagement shoot. um, seriously. ryan and mary. freak’n amazing. i’m just so happy. just like when you meet someone and you just know you’re going to marry them someday, or try on your wedding dress and know its the one … i kind of have that with my clients. i meet them and am like … i just know we’re a match. we had so much fun getting to know eachother that really … our time went by way to fast and we had to continue our conversations via email. mary is thee most down to earth sweet girl and ryan … well i can just tell that he loves her with all his being and supports her in everything she does. i can’t wait to get to know this couple better and travel to shoot their wedding in august!!! i know we will have so much fun and meeting their families will just be the icing on the cake. my job is to give them engagement pictures and wedding pictures that they will cherish for the rest of their lives, and although it may not seem like the biggest deal to most … i know i will cherish this experience of traveling to see them … and getting to know this couple. i just love meeting new people and taking it all in and learning from one another. it really is a beautiful thing. enjoy and sorry for the crazy amount of pictures. i’m not in a decisive mood. oh, and i guess the pictures are loading slow for a lot of people! i had no idea! i’m sorry! it loads super fast on my computer but after getting hounded by my family at coffee yesterday morning, i’m working on fixing this 🙂 happy monday! and good morning! so excited for this week! <3
