i think most kids grow up with a neighbor kid that turns out to be your best bud for years. the person that is always there to play and go on your next adventure with. always willing. if you didn’t have this growing up, i feel bad for you because boy was it fun. in this case, it was a little different. justine was the granddaughter to my neighbor but fortunately for me, she babysat a lot. like everyday. we met under the big pine tree that was split to both property lines and hung out. the things that stick out to me most when thinking back to our play days is the koala yummies, barbies, our bathing suits/life jackets that grandma barb had to shove styrofoam into, and of course swimming until our whole bodies were prunnie. good times. and memories i will never forget. well after a certain age, the visits became few and far between and at the age of fifteen, we moved out of my childhood home that my dad had built when my mom was pregnant with me. and shortly after, her grandma and grandpa moved out as well. for years we never spoke, but luckily we still had some connections.
i don’t quite remember how she contacted me, but when she did, i was so excited. i’m pretty sure grandma barb called me, whom my family had stayed in touch with. [don’t even get me started on amazing neighbors. you have no idea] either way … i was so excited to see justine again and hear about her engagement and LIFE. after a very extensive coffee ‘meeting’ we were set and i learned about their love for michigan university where they met and were attending college. somehow i got the impression that michigan football would be integrated into the wedding somehow 😉
justine and brian should be super excited after reading this post. why? because i’ve decided that they won the ‘thee most laid back wedding eva. its true. soooo laid back. what is the opposite of a bridezilla because that is what justine is. a tomboy at heart as well, she just relaxed on her wedding day and really took in every minute. of course i was stoked to be on a farm surrounded by goats, chickens, horses, ponies, dogs, cats, and sheep. it. was. awesome. tara and i had a ball. it was a beautiful day, ceremony, bridal party, family, reception … everything was amazing. so happy for these two.
hope you don’t mind lots of pictures of farm animals. i couldn’t resist.
something i absolutely LOVE about this wedding is justine wore her mother’s wedding dress. altered obviously. no sleeves. but just beautiful and i’m sure it meant so much to cindy and it fit her perfectly. personality and all.
i’m pretty sure i said, “this is you guys next year” … and then justine made this face.
now this is dedication …
** note: i am on my way to a michigan state game which i find funny because of these two. sorry. i feel like a trader but i am going for free. with family. 😉
