sam + justin :: engagement

Through emails, Sam kept warning me that Harlow was very very active and to be ready. “Yeah, yeah … trust me’ I thought … I’ve had my fair share of active busy children. But holy smokies … was I wrong. This little girl has places to go! I’m pretty sure I was sweating and it wasn’t that warm out. But I love a busy body … its funny to watch her run around and to just wonder how her little brain works.

Sam and Justin met at work and then shortly after falling in love were blessed with baby Harlow. Long story…

mallory + austin :: wedding

Mallory and Austin’s wedding day was everything a wedding should be, and more. Between an amazing home to get ready in, a gorgeous bride, a giggly first look, and all their fun friends and family there to celebrate, it really was a beautiful perfect day. Not to mention all the fun, pretty, and unique details Mallory added in to their day. Mallory’s personality definitely was showcased throughout the day. I love that.

I got to know this amazing couple pretty well over the past several months and throughout this whole wedding process. That is my favorite part, making new friends….

sam + eric :: engagement

Sam is a very close family friend and so is her mother whom ‘organized’ our ‘Thursday morning therapy sessions’ in the summer … on our horses. Sam also works with my mom at our family business so this girl is near and dear to my heart. Unfortunatly I’m not the lucky lady who gets to photograph these two’s wedding day come August, but I’m so excited for them non the less and so thankful I got to meet up with them over a month ago to snap some engagement photos! Yes yes … I can’t believe I haven’t shared these…

bath & body works haul

In light of the busiest shopping time of the year underway, I thought what a great time to share my HAUL from Bath and Body Works yesterday on my ONE excursion outside my home on black Friday. I was scared, real scared to head out on the roads. You see, I’m not much of a ‘shopper’ … the crowds and fights over small electronics tend to scare me off. I’ve always said, I’d rather pay full price for something than to get no sleep and stand in line to save a buck. However, I now can see SOME WHAT of…

meaney :: portraits

This adorable family has graced this blog a few times now. I’ve been so lucky to have been this families photographer for some years now. I absolutely LOVE IT when clients come back year after year asking me to photograph their growing families! Sara and I grew up as best friends throughout elementary and middle school. High school we kind of grew apart only to become close again in what I like to call, ‘adulthood’. I can’t believe Sara is a mother of two already and she has SUCH a beautiful family. This girl is near and dear to my…

tina + derek :: wedding

We met for the first time downtown Holland for a drink, perfect first date. I had never met Tina, but she had found me through a past bride whom she is neighbors with and so thankful Stacey referred me. It was a perfect first date and we hit it off right away. A few glasses of wine later, I think we talked more about life and fun memories than wedding planning. I was so bummed I didn’t get to shoot an engagement session with these two, something I think is so important. So when their wedding day came, I had…

harper :: 3 months

Boy do I love it when my bride and groom’s have babies … and it seems to be happening faster and faster! Leigh and Trevor tied the knot just a little over a year ago! August 2011, I was a part of their day and I am so so very happy that we’ve become friends ever since. I’m not sure how you could hang out with Leigh and fall in love with her instantly. And same goes for Trevor. Such a fun down to earth couple and I loved spending some time with them and getting to meet baby Harper…

living in the present

This past weekend I found myself going for an afternoon walk in between my editing to clear my head. Northern Michigan, so beautiful in its fall essence. The colors of my surroundings were so inspiring. I just LOVE fall around our cabin. Burnt orange ferns, the green pine trees with white birch trees all around, It’s oh so perfect. It was a tad bit windy but I felt so at peace. Walking around while Zoey jumped in and out of the woods sniffing the ground. For once I didn’t have head phones blasting or a phone up to my ear,…

stephanie + ryan wedding :: part two

Now back to this beautiful couple. After the gorgeous ceremony on the top of the mountain with a sailboat passing by below, we had some more fun with the bridal party celebrating and these two had perma-smiles. I think we all did. Glen Arbor, Michigan has beautiful farms and fields everywhere which is my dream come true. Have I said yet that I love northern Michigan??

The reception was full of some amazing dancing and Stephanie did a wonderful job with all the decor. Every little detail was thought of, even the sign in the bathroom that had a basket…

stephanie + ryan wedding :: part one

As you can see, until Stephanie was in her white beautiful dress … those little flower girls stole the show. We all know how obsessed I am with northern Michigan and I love their weddings even more. Stephanie + Ryan were married in Glen Arbor, Michigan on the top of skiing ‘mountain’ at the Homestead. One of thee most beautiful ceremony cites I have ever seen and it was so perfect that a sail boat was sailing by just below while these two tied the knot.

The morning was spent in a perfect little salon full of Stephanie’s closest girlfriends….
